Located approximately nine kilometres from Tumbarumba on the Tooma Road, the Henry Angel Trackhead is a popular camping and picnic area that caters to visitors wanting to explore the Hume and Hovell Track.
The camping area provides quality facilities including electric and gas barbecues. You can spend hours on end exploring the Burra Creek and its significant mining history. The picnic area is an ideal spot for a relaxing and refreshing picnic.
The Henry Angel Trackhead is a base for short and longer walks along the Hume and Hovell Track, especially walking up and downstream exploring the Burra Creek. This trail retraces the footsteps of explorers Hamilton Hume and William Hovell on their expedition to Port Phillip in 1824. Information boards that give insights into the history of the track are located at the trackhead. Note that dogs are not permitted on the track as it crosses private land. Visitors are advised to wear sturdy walking boots and be adequately clothed for their walk. The track is open all year round. In summer, visitors are advised to avoid walking the track during the heat of the day. Autumn is an ideal time of year to visit as the temperatures are milder and the leaves on the trees create a beautiful and unique scenery. Winter is less busy and can be quite chilly, but with proper gear, you can still enjoy walking along the track.
