Description

The Wooldridge Recreation and Fossicking Reserve is a popular tourist destination located approximately six kilometres from Uralla township along the Kingstown Road.

This well-maintained reserve offers ample parking for caravans and campervans, free camping, toilet facilities, picnic tables, wood-fired barbecues (subject to fire restrictions) and fresh drinking water.

Wooldridge Recreation and Fossicking Reserve is the perfect destination to relax under the shade of ghost gums and appreciate the variety of birdlife that calls the reserve home. Lucky visitors might spot the occasional kangaroo or wallaby passing through the reserve. It is an excellent spot for birdwatching or a picnic.

This reserve is particularly famous for its gold panning opportunities. Gold pans are available for hire at the Uralla Visitor Information Centre for a nominal charge, and a map to the area can be provided. Visitors can try their hand at panning for gold or semi-precious gems.

The Wooldridge Recreation and Fossicking Reserve is open to visitors year-round. To get to Wooldridge Recreation and Fossicking Reserve, drive along the Kingstown Road for approximately 3.5 kilometres, then turn right into Devoncourt Road and follow to the end. Visitors should look out for a cattle grid marking the entrance to the reserve. Visitors are encouraged to use the rubbish bins provided to dispose of litter. It is vital to note that shooting is prohibited in the reserve.
