Description

The Lime Burners Walk is a picturesque track that connects Walkerville North and South.

Along the way, you can explore the remnants of the historic lime kilns that were once essential for extracting quick lime. Despite falling into disrepair, these majestic remains still stand.

During the Lime Burners Walk, you can admire the stunning limestone outcrops and learn about the history of the Walkerville lime kilns. A short side track leads to the Walkerville Cemetery, where you can discover the stories and history of local pioneers. The track is 750 meters long and takes approximately 20 minutes (one-way) to complete. It has a gravel surface and includes a reasonably steep incline.

Dogs are not allowed on this track. To reach Walkerville South, it is about a 15-minute drive from Tarwin Lower or Waratah Bay. The walk begins on the cliff behind the lime kilns.

South Gippsland offers a variety of other walking tracks to explore, ranging from short to long, with some even suitable for cycling. Walking is a great way to appreciate the beauty of this region.
