Koomba Park

Koomba Park is a 92-hectare (230-acre) park in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

It is part of the Dandenong Valley Parklands and is managed by VicRoads and Parks Victoria. The park was opened in 1981 and was previously used for cattle grazing and apple orchards.

The park serves as a wildlife corridor for Dandenong Creek and features riparian forest, wetlands, swamps, and indigenous revegetation areas. It is home to various mammals and bird species, with a bird hide available for birdwatching. The park also supports threatened indigenous plant species. Man-made water bodies in the park are classified as an Urban Floodway Zone.

Koomba Park offers scenic walking paths and trails, including the popular Dandenong Creek Trail. Visitors can park their vehicles at the large car park located at the southern end of the park or the smaller car park at the northern end. A drinking fountain and information boards are also available.

In the past, Koomba Park has experienced criminal activities, but measures have been taken to address these incidents, including regular police patrolling. In 2008, a joint toilet block and picnic shelter were demolished due to crime-related issues. The park does not have electric barbeques as they were removed during the same time.
