Description

Wentworth Falls is a remarkable and picturesque waterfall located near the town of Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, Australia. It is fed by the Jamison Creek and consists of three tiers, with a total height of 187 meters (614 ft).

The waterfall is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and photographers due to its tranquil surroundings and stunning natural beauty.

Surrounded by scenic views, Wentworth Falls offers several walking trails for visitors to explore. One notable feature near the falls is a rocky knoll with grinding grooves, which are signs of early human habitation. Visitors can enjoy the waterfall from the top accessible via the Wentworth Falls Lookout or from the bottom via the National Pass Walking Trail and the Overcliff/Undercliff Walk. After periods of high rainfall, the waterfall becomes even more impressive with torrents of water flowing.

While exploring Wentworth Falls, it is important to exercise caution as fatal accidents have occurred in the past. In December 2000, a man fell off the waterfall and died while paddling in a rock pool. Similarly, in January 2013, another person slipped on rocks and fell to their death. The waterfall was also the site of an alleged suicide in 1996.

Wentworth Falls is easily accessible through a picnic area located near the town. The picnic area has parking space for cars and larger vehicles. Visitors can take the right fork off the car park near the Jamison Lookout to reach breathtaking views of the Jamison Valley. From there, two access points lead down steps to Princes Lookout, where the first two sections of the falls can be seen before they disappear into the valley.
