Description

Commonwealth Reserve is a beautiful park located in the heart of historic Williamstown, right on the foreshore adjacent to Gem Pier.

The park features a Visitor Information Centre, cafes, bars and restaurants, and is perfect for family picnics, relaxation, and exploring Williamstown’s Maritime Heritage. It’s a popular place for locals and tourists alike.

The park features extensive lawns and shaded areas, a playground for kids, and a rotunda. It’s an excellent spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the great views across the bay to Melbourne. There are also several heritage items located in the reserve, including the Tide Gauge House and the Wilkinson Drinking Fountain. You can also visit the Hobsons Bay Visitor Information Centre, which is located in the park.

If you’re a fan of craft markets, head over to Commonwealth Reserve on the third Sunday of every month to explore the craft market. There are many shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby, including along Nelson's Place. Commonwealth Reserve is also a great place to begin exploring Williamstown’s Maritime Heritage.

Commonwealth Reserve is open every day of the year, and it's a great place to go any time of the year. It’s especially busy during weekends and holidays, so if you want to avoid the crowds, it's best to visit on weekdays.

By train: Williamstown Station and Williamstown Beach Station are both approximately a 10-minute walk from Commonwealth Reserve. By ferry: Ferries from Southbank (City) and St Kilda berth at Gem Pier. Car parking: At weekends free parking is available at the Tenix car park, further along Nelson Place or on nearby streets (note parking restrictions).
