The park is located approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes drive from Melbourne, and visitors can reach it by taking the South Gippsland Highway.

The camping ground also has a Visitor Centre, a general store, and a cafe. Other caravan parks near Wilsons Promontory include Stockyard Camp and Yanakie Caravan Park, but Tidal River is the only caravan park within the park itself.
