Description
Barracuda Bommie dive site, located on the Agincourt Reefs off Port Douglas, offers an exciting diving experience for enthusiasts of all levels.
The site features a giant pinnacle of coral that rises from the sandy sea floor at 26 meters. Its name could not be more appropriate, as it is rare not to see barracuda during your dive.
Aside from barracuda, divers at this site witness marine life diversity at its best. The site has an abundance of turtles, sweetlips, coral trout, trevally, fusiliers, and schools of yellow-finned goatfish, snubnose drummer, and blue-lined snapper. Moreover, the Bommy hosts plenty of smaller species such as cardinalfish, garden eels, and school of blue spotted stingrays.
The Barracuda Bommie dive site is accessible year-round, but the underwater visibility conditions vary depending on the time of year. From April to November, the site boasts clear waters that ensure an excellent diving experience.
The Barracuda Bommie dive site is located off the coast of Port Douglas, which is accessible through Cairns. You can take a flight to Cairns airport, then take a taxi or shuttle service to Port Douglas. From there, you can join one of the many dive boats that run from Port Douglas to the Agincourt Reefs. Such a tour usually includes multiple diving sessions, including the Barracuda Bommie dive site.
