Beacon Hill Lookout

Beacon Hill Lookout Robe is a unique wooden tower atop Beacon Hill, offering stunning 360-degree views of the charming town of Robe in southeast South Australia.

The tower, initially built as a navigational aid for fishermen, was rebuilt in 1996 for the Robe "150" Celebrations. The new construction involved replacing the original wooden structure with a circular paddock stone tower, featuring a central core of Mount Gambier stone ashlars and freestone face. The tower also includes a poured-in-situ reinforced concrete staircase leading to the top viewing platform. Access to the tower is via a timber boardwalk constructed by the Robe and District Lions Club members, enhancing the visitor experience. The Lions Club returned to the tower in 2022 for maintenance and clean-up, as well as planting new vegetation in the surrounding areas. Beacon Hill Lookout Robe offers spectacular views of Robe's coastal scenery, countryside, and township, making it a perfect spot for sightseeing, photography, and relaxation. The tower is open year-round, with the best time to visit being during the day to fully appreciate the illuminated views. Visitors can reach the lookout by taking a stroll from the town centre, walking through the Robe Golf Course, or driving to the carpark at the base of the lookout.
