Description
A family owned and operated boutique vineyard, near Longford, Tasmania, Australia.
A small cellar door is available for wine tasting and sales.
Agricultural advances and technology have meant this vineyard can include themselves amongst the stunning quality vineyards developing in Tasmania. They are enormously happy with their cool climate Pinot Noir and the devotion they have to producing a premium vintage.
It is no light claim that they hand select every bunch and ruthlessly cull for quality before picking. They are also excited to share the exploding discovery of deliciousness that Tasmanian Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc are bringing to the world of fine wine.
#History
Just north of Longford, in Tasmania’s Northern Midlands, is the property of “Valleyfield” and one of the newest Vineyards in the State. It is, in fact, one of the oldest properties in Tasmania.
“Valleyfield” was originally part of a grant of 1705 Acres to Henry Clayton around 1837. He, and his father William, built the homestead of “Wickford” over the road and the original “Valleyfield” homestead was built around 1840.
At some point the house was changed to Federation style, as it is today.
