Description
A personal celebration of a city that never fails to excite.
Bernard says he was drawn to Paris because it’s a place where creativity is rewarded and celebrated. His first visit during the 1970s was when he was awarded a scholarship from the Royal College of Art to live and work in a studio complex on the river Seine. Many years later he bought a modest but beautiful rooftop dwelling with his partner and artist, Wendy Sharpe.
Paris is now a constant source of inspiration, and this exhibition is a culmination of several lengthy visits. These paintings and prints have been predominantly executed 'plein air' and developed into fruition back at his studio in Sydney.
They are akin to studies or vignettes, often idiosyncratic in nature, rather than a more familiar cliched view.
