Description

Bicton Hill Walking Track is a four-kilometer circuit track located in the Clump Mountain National Park, about 4.5 km north of Mission Beach Village on Bingil Bay Road.

The track takes approximately 1-2 hours to complete and has easy gradients accessible to everyone, with seating at each of the four lookout points.

The track offers unsurpassed views and a wide variety of rare rainforest plants and animal life. Visitors can expect to see marsupials like the nocturnal striped possum, lace monitors, and various bird species including pied imperial-pigeons, cassowaries, and parrots. The vegetation along the track includes brush box, swamp mahogany, strangler figs, Alexander palms, cycads, and more.

The best time to visit the Bicton Hill Walking Track is in the morning, especially to catch a glimpse of cassowaries on the move at first light. For those interested in witnessing the evening spectacle of migratory pied imperial-pigeons returning to the islands after foraging for food on the mainland, the best time is between October and March.

To access the track, visitors can park at the car park - picnic area at Bingil Bay. After completing the walk, there is an opportunity to swim at one of the deserted beaches across the road or find toilet facilities at the corner of Bingil Bay Road and Cutten Street.

In addition to the Bicton Hill Walking Track, there are other walking tracks in Mission Beach worth exploring. These include the Ulysses Link and the Cutten Brothers’ Walking Tracks, Lacey's Creek Walk, Musgravea Track, Licuala Fan Palm Walk, and Dunk Island Walking Tracks. Each track offers unique experiences and sights
