Description

Birdsland Reserve Belgrave Heights is a stunning bushland reserve spanning 75 hectares of land.

It is located in the southern area of the Dandenong Ranges, between Belgrave and Lysterfield Lake Park. The Wildlife Reserve was originally owned by the Bird family from the 1940s to the 1980s. It was then purchased by the Shire of Sherbrooke, now known as Yarra Ranges Council, and opened as a reserve in the late 1980s. Since then, it has become a popular destination for both tourists and locals.

Birdsland Reserve offers a range of activities for visitors to enjoy. It is an ideal spot for picnicking with family and friends, providing a serene atmosphere and beautiful natural scenery. The reserve has BBQs, picnic shelters, and plenty of picnic tables available, making it perfect for gatherings.

Nature enthusiasts can explore the reserve's various walking tracks and hiking trails. These range in duration from short 20-minute walks to extended day-long hikes. Along the way, visitors can admire the park's diverse plant species, birds, and animals. The reserve's highest point offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding trees.

The reserve is open throughout the year, with varying closing times depending on the season. Visitors should check the signs at the park entrance for up-to-date information. It is important to note that the reserve is not open on days of Total Fire Ban.
