Description

Blowering Cliffs Walking Track is a challenging hike in the Tumut region suitable for experienced hikers.

The trailhead is located near the Log Bridge Creek picnic area and campground, next to the Snowy Mountains Highway bridge.

The walk begins along a management trail through open montane forest. As the trail progresses, it becomes steeper as you ascend up to the mountain range. The views of the Blowering Reservoir make the rigorous ascent worth it. Along the trail, you'll see a waterfall trickling down the granite cliffs. Be cautious when navigating the rock slabs that have fallen from the cliff.

The Blowering Cliffs Walking Track is a popular spot for spotting native animals. Eastern grey kangaroos, emus, and wallabies are commonly seen along the track. Bird enthusiasts can also enjoy spotting native honeyeaters, firetails, parrots, and raptors.

The trail is closed during winter, so the best time to hike is during the warmer months. After the hike, you can relax and have a picnic at the Log Bridge Creek campground. The picnic site offers parking, toilet facilities, BBQ grills, and picnic tables. If you plan to camp, the campground is an ideal spot to spend the night before continuing your hike.

To reach the Blowering Cliffs Walking Track, head south on the Snowy Mountains Highway from Tumut for 40 minutes, or travel north from Adaminaby for approximately 50 minutes. Look for signs for Blowering Reservoir, and you will find the Log Bridge Creek campground.
