Description

Brisbane Ranges National Park is a 7,718-hectare (19,070-acre) park located in the Barwon South West region of Victoria, Australia.

Managed by Parks Victoria, it is situated just 80 kilometres (50 mi) west of Melbourne near the town of Meredith. The park covers a part of the Brisbane Ranges, which consists of hills of moderate altitude.

One of the park's main attractions is the walk through Anakie Gorge, offering various trails and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The Ted Errey Nature Circuit and Wadawurrung walk are also worth exploring, providing picturesque views and opportunities to spot koalas and wallabies in their natural habitat.

Anakie Gorge Walk is a relatively flat trek suitable for visitors with moderate fitness. The highlight of the walk is the breathtaking views of the gorge and the diverse wildlife that can be encountered along the way, including the curious wallabies that are unafraid of tourists. The fire destroyed two houses, but no human lives were lost. Despite extensive firefighting efforts, the blaze continued for weeks. A year later, a second bushfire posed a challenge for park authorities.

Brisbane Ranges National Park is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts, bushwalkers, and wildlife photographers in the Barwon South West region of Victoria. Its magnificent hiking trails and abundant wildlife offer an unforgettable experience.
