Description

City Hill Park is a 5-hectare landscaped park located in the center of Canberra.

It is surrounded by Vernon Circle and was designed to emphasize the six avenues radiating from the hill. The park features formal tree plantings from the 1920s and is an important part of the original design of Canberra.

At the center of the park is a flagpole flying the ACT flag since 1989. The highest point of City Hill offers views overlooking Lake Burley Griffin. The park is a popular spot for locals to relax, have a picnic, or read a book. It provides shade, grass, and seating for visitors. Dogs are welcome on-leash, with certain restrictions.

In 2014, the Canberra Centenary Column was added to the park to commemorate Canberra's centenary. The design of the column complements the symmetrical nature of the park. The park is open year-round and is especially beautiful in spring and fall when the trees change colors.

City Hill Park is centrally located in Canberra and is adjacent to Northbourne Avenue. Accessing the park can be challenging due to its location surrounded by a major road. Visitors can enter the park through Vernon Circle. It offers a peaceful atmosphere and stunning views of Lake Burley Griffin from its highest point.
