Description

Coalcliff beach, located 24 kilometres north of Wollongong's city centre, is a small rocky beach surrounded by cliffs.

The southern end of the beach features a saltwater rock pool perfect for a refreshing dip. You can also explore the rocky areas around the beach to spot some marine life. During summer, the beach is also a popular fishing spot, where you can try your hand at catching some Australian fish species.

Coalcliff beach is a great escape all year round, but the beach is only patrolled from the commencement of the NSW school holidays in September until the end of April school holidays. This means the beach is suitable for experienced swimmers during the off-season. For dog owners, the beach is on-lead dog-friendly during certain times. You can contact the authorities to know the specific timing of the time-sharing zone.

You can take a scenic drive to the beach, which is accessible from Lawrence Hargrave Drive. There is a car park available near the beach with a few shops and facilities nearby. The beach is also located along the Grand Pacific Walk, a popular walking trail in the area if you're looking to hike to or from Coalcliff beach.
