Crystal Mountain is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Auckland, New Zealand.
It is located in Swanson, just a short drive from the city centre, and is an all-weather family-friendly destination that offers a unique opportunity to learn more about some of the rarest and most exquisite crystals and minerals found in New Zealand.

The park provides visitors with a wide range of activities and attractions that will not disappoint. The highlight of the park is the Crystal Mine Museum which houses New Zealand's largest collection of rare and exquisite crystals and minerals; it showcases a beautiful display of over 6000 specimens that have been sourced locally and globally. Visitors can view the collection and also learn more about the geological process that forms crystals.
Moreover, Crystal Mountain also offers farm tours where visitors can get a glimpse of the farm life of the rural areas of New Zealand; here they will encounter various farm animals such as sheep, goats, donkeys, and others. Children will enjoy the park's mini-golf course which has nine holes, and an outdoor playground.
When to go:
Crystal Mountain is open seven days a week, except on some public holidays such as Christmas day. The opening hours are 10 AM – 5 PM. Visitors can enjoy the unique indoor activities at the mine, regardless of the weather conditions.

The Cafe on the Rock is located inside Crystal Mountain, serving all-day breakfast, brunch, fresh salads, sandwiches, and barista coffees for hungry visitors with a good appetite. The cafe's setting is very picturesque, with diners enjoying a stunning view of the scenic grounds, water features, and stunning rare quartz crystals.
How to get there:
Located in Swanson, the site is accessible from Auckland city (approximately 26 km away) by car, taxi or train. Visitors who opt for a train ride can catch the Western Line out of Britomart station in the city, with the trip taking approximately 40 minutes. By car, visitors can make the journey, taking approximately 20-25 minutes from Auckland city, following State Highway 16.
