Auckland has a number of off-road cycle and walkways that are perfect for a recreational ride or walk or for a more scenic commute. Auckland Transport provides a network of cycle routes to find the right bike journey for you. There are different types of routes such as on-road cycle lanes, protected cycle lanes, and shared paths. The Central Auckland routes include the City to Bays path, which is a 40-minute, 10km one-way path, and the City centre cycle loop, which is a 6.7km one-way path that connects to the wider cycling network of paths. The East and West Auckland routes include the Pakuranga Rotary and Cascades path, which is a 90-minute, 13km return path, and the Henderson path, which is a 55-minute, 1.5km one-way path. The South Auckland routes include the Onehunga to Stonefields path, which is a 60-minute, 1.5km one-way path, and the Wattle Downs path, which is a 40-minute, 7km one-way path.
