Description
The Daintree Discovery Centre Cow Bay is located 10 kilometres north of the Daintree River.
It is a multi-award winning Centre that offers a unique rainforest experience at every level, from the forest floor to the canopy. Visitors can enjoy activities such as climbing the 23-metre-high Canopy Tower to see orchids and potentially spot a python, or walking along the Aerial Walkway to catch a glimpse of a Cassowary with chicks. The Centre also has a Display Centre with a DVD theatre, interactive computer kiosks, and a Jurassic Forest walk featuring life-like dinosaurs. One of the highlights is the self-guided audio tours, which provide insights into how the local Aboriginal people traditionally used the rainforest. The Centre is open every day of the year from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm and can be reached by driving north from Cairns along the Captain Cook Highway and crossing the Daintree River ferry. Shuttle buses and organized tours from Cairns or Port Douglas are also available.
