History
The locality takes its name from the creek of the same name, which was named after Joseph Delaney, who was either an early selector or fossicker.Delaneys Creek Provisional School was founded in 1892. In 1909 it became Delaneys Creek State School.At the 2011 census Delaneys Creekhad a population of 713 people.In the 2016 census Delaneys Creek had a population of 1,061 people.
