Description
Devilbend Natural Features Reserve is a 1,005-hectare park located in Tuerong, central southern Victoria, Australia.
It is known for its two decommissioned water supply reservoirs, Devilbend Reservoir and Bittern Reservoir.
The park is situated within the traditional country of the Bunurong people and has a rich history. The Devilbend Reservoir, built in the 1960s, played a crucial role in providing backup drinking water until it became redundant in 2000. In 2006, most of the reservoir land was transferred to Parks Victoria, and the Devilbend Natural Features Reserve was established in 2007.
Devilbend Reserve is a rare site of native bushland on the Mornington Peninsula, with over 200 species of indigenous plants and various wildlife. It is particularly important for waterbirds and the white-bellied sea eagle, which nests exclusively on the peninsula. The Devilbend Reservoir has also been recognized as an Important Bird Area.
For visitors, the Daangean Point Picnic Area offers a relaxing spot with electric barbecues, picnic tables, and public toilets.
Devilbend Natural Features Reserve is a unique natural haven that provides a special experience for visitors. If you're interested in exploring this reserve, consider booking your trip now.
