Dolphin Discovery Centre

There's no better way to learn about these friendly creatures than to go right to the source. Stand at the shore or wade into the designated interaction zone to meet the bottlenosed dolphins face to face, then rationalise your experience in the Discovery Room and theatrette. The Discovery Room and Theatre feature a range of interpretive displays and sensations for people of all ages and include our discovery pool and the world’s only ‘Digital Dolphinarium’. The beach interaction zone at the Centre is where the wild Koombana Bay dolphins visit to interact with humans. This very enjoyable experience cannot be guaranteed as the wild dolphins come and go as they please however seeing these magnificent creatures so close is truly wonderful. Dolphin visits to the interaction zone usually take place in the mornings between 8.00am and 12.00 midday but can happen at any time. Eco cruises run from the beach and  ‘A Swim-On-The-Wild-Side’ experience is not to be missed. Imagine freely swimming in the Bay, guided by our Marine Biologist, when a wild dolphin swims by to look at you. Interpretation is the key on these tours and we are committed to providing all participants with information to help your understanding of the dolphins. These fantastic tours operate October to April and bookings are essential as they are limited to 18 swimmers.
