Description

Located on the banks of the Albert River, Eagleby Wetlands is a must-visit for nature lovers and birdwatchers.

With over 200 native bird species, including 19 out of the 24 Australian raptors and almost half of the bird species found in Queensland, this wetland is a birdwatcher's paradise.

Eagleby Wetlands offers a unique wildlife experience where you can witness some of Australia's most beautiful birdlife in their natural habitat. The wetlands feature melaleuca swamps, aquatic reeds, freshwater lakes, woodland, and cane fields. Birdwatching and photography enthusiasts will enjoy exploring over 300 hectares of wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands, where you can spot various species of birds such as egrets, ibis, spoonbills, honeyeaters, and raptors such as the Swamp Harrier, Wedge-tailed Eagle, and the Brown Falcon. Eagleby Wetlands also offers excellent walking trails, picnic areas, and bird hides where you can sit and observe birds and other wildlife up close.

The site is open daily from 6 am to 6 pm, and the best time to visit is during the morning hours when birds are active and easier to spot. Spring and autumn are the best seasons for birdwatching, and the wetlands are at their most picturesque during these seasons.

Eagleby Wetlands is located just 30 minutes from both Gold Coast and Brisbane. If you're driving, take exit 34 from the M1 and follow the signs to the wetlands. Alternatively, you can take a train to Beenleigh Station and catch the 563 bus to Eagleby Road. The wetlands are an easy 8-minute walk from the bus
