Edgells Lane

Edgells Lane Kelso, also known as the Bathurst Brick Pits, is an area undergoing wetlands restoration project located on the edge of Bathurst.

The area features old clay quarries and wetlands which become fully submerged in water during the wet seasons, creating an ideal breeding ground for a wide variety of native and migratory birds. This makes Edgells Lane Kelso an excellent spot for birdwatching.

Edgells Lane Kelso is perfect for birdwatchers or anyone interested in nature. The area is home to over 100 species of bird, including 43 wetland dependant species. Birdwatchers will enjoy walking along the numerous walking trails in the area, where they can observe and photograph the birds in their natural habitat. The wetlands and old clay quarries also offer a great opportunity for fishing and boating. Visitors can bring their own gear or rent it from nearby shops.

The best time for birdwatching at Edgells Lane Kelso is during the wet season or after heavy rainfall when the wetlands and old clay quarries fill with water. This time of year attracts a range of native and migratory birds. Edgells Lane Kelso is conveniently located on the edge of Bathurst, New South Wales. Visitors can drive to the Brick Pits via the Great Western Highway from Sydney or the Mitchell Highway from Melbourne. Public transport options are also available, with regular bus services operating between Bathurst and surrounding regional areas.
