Description

Egg Rock Dive Site - The Keppels Located in the Keppel Islands off Yeppoon, Egg Rock is a dive site known for its three rock pinnacles rising from 30 meters to the surface.

It is a fantastic destination for experienced divers to explore.

Egg Rock is a great dive site for spotting schools of pelagic fish such as trevally, batfish and barracuda. Divers can explore the walls, gutters and ledges of the dive site which are home to a variety of corals, reef fish and invertebrate life. In addition to these marvellous marine creatures, divers can also expect to encounter wobbegongs, tawny nurse sharks, whitetip reef sharks, stingrays, eagle rays, turtles and sea snakes.

The best time to visit Egg Rock is between September and November when the water is warmer, and visibility is at its best. Egg Rock is a dive site for experienced divers, as it is quite deep, going up to 25 meters, and is washed by currents. It is best to dive it as a drift dive, as anchoring safely at the site is challenging.

The Keppel Islands can be reached by boat from Rosslyn Bay and the journey will take around 30-45 minutes. Many dive operators can be found in Yeppoon offering boat trips and diving tours to Egg Rock.
