Description
Eungella Dam is a popular freshwater fishing spot located in the Eungella Dam locality of Mackay Region, Queensland.
It offers a serene camping experience with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Constructed in 1969, the dam was primarily built to meet the water requirements of nearby power stations. It has a large storage capacity and surface area.
The dam is known for producing extraoversized sooty grunter and barramundi, making it a popular fishing destination. Visitors must obtain a stocked impoundment permit to fish in Eungella Dam. Camping is the main activity in the area, with small campsites offering basic facilities. Visitors can also enjoy building fires in established fire rings using firewood from the surrounding area.
SunWater is currently upgrading the dam spillway capacity to ensure safety. Despite the upgrades, Eungella Dam remains a picturesque destination with impressive fishing opportunities. Plan your next trip to experience everything it has to offer.
