A closed yarning circle led by Joshua Pether (Kalkadoon) and Uncle Paul Constable Calcott (Wiradjrui).

For the first time in our history, Arts Centre Melbourne will be host to the first ever gathering of First Nations artists with a disability. Alter State 2024 starts with an important milestone that will be forever etched into the collective consciousness of the Australian arts community.

This closed event welcomes Indigenous Deaf and Disabled artists from all nations across Australia and the Torres Strait along with local mob from metropolitan and regional Victoria. Mob will gather under the guidance and wisdom of the elder in residence who will set the tone of the day by offering us the provocation- What is the future of disability from the perspective of First Nations knowledge and understanding?
