Groper Creek Home Hill is a laidback fishing destination located approximately 15 kilometers from the town of Home Hill.

It is a remote fishing village situated towards the mouth of the Burdekin River. The area is well-known for its fantastic fishing and crabbing opportunities, with an abundance of fish species and blue and mud crabs during the crabbing season.

As you explore the area along Groper Creek Road, you will pass sugar cane farms and encounter diverse bird species in the wetland area. The Groper Creek settlement features unique architectural huts built on high stumps, along with an elevated kiosk and public phone box. The charming buildings offer great photo opportunities.

For those who wish to stay longer, there are two caravan parks situated on the banks of the creek. These parks offer powered and non-powered sites, allowing visitors to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. You can choose to park under the shade of the mangroves or have a view of the river.

The easiest way to reach Groper Creek Home Hill is by car. From Townsville, you can take the Bruce Highway and turn left into Groper Creek Road. If you are traveling from North Queensland, take the Bruce Highway and turn right into Groper Creek Road.
