Description

Gulaga National Park is a nature reserve located on the south coast of New South Wales in Australia.

The park is home to Mount Gulaga, a dormant volcano over 60 million years old, which makes it a popular tourist destination. It was created in 2001 by joining the former Wallaga Lake National Park, Goura Nature Reserve, and Mount Dromedary Flora Reserve to conserve the natural beauty of the site. The park was handed back to the Yuin people, making it the largest national park returned to an Indigenous community in New South Wales.

Mount Gulaga, once an active volcano, is now the centerpiece of Gulaga National Park. The park covers an area of 46.73 sq km and was created as part of the Southern Comprehensive Regional Forest Agreement. The Yuin people requested the creation of the park, and it was handed back to the community in 2006.

Gulaga National Park is an important bird area, particularly for swift parrots, according to BirdLife International. The park offers a variety of natural delights, including stunning flora and fauna. The centerpiece, Mount Gulaga, along with the surrounding countryside, lakes, and temperate rainforest, make the park a treasure trove of natural wonders. Wallaga Lake, the park's largest lake, is a sight to behold. Visitors can explore the park's walking tracks and paths, which are known for their beauty and historical significance.

We invite you to visit Gulaga National Park and experience the grandeur of this natural wonder.
