Description

Gum Bend Lake is a man-made lake located just 3 kilometers from Condobolin, a small town in the central part of New South Wales.

The lake was constructed to commemorate Australia's Bicentenary and was jointly funded by the NSW Bicentennial Council, the people of Condobolin, and the Lachlan Shire Council. It was opened to the public on 22 October 1988.

Gum Bend is a perfect destination to unwind, relax and take in the serene surroundings. Visitors can walk or hike on the 6km walking trail from Gum Bend Lake to Bathurst Street and back to the lake again. The trail offers an amazing view of the flora and fauna of the region. The lake is 3km around, and visitors can enjoy a walk or jog on the trail. The lake also offers calm waters for kayaking for those with their own kayaks. Visitors can enjoy a dip in the lake or have a swim to cool off during the summer months.

Gum Bend Lake is a great camping spot with friendly and helpful caretakers. The camping area is quite spacious and offers an amazing view of the lake. Visitors can pitch their tents or park their caravans and enjoy the tranquil environment. The lake is also a perfect fishing spot, especially when there is enough water. Visitors can catch fish such as redfin, silver perch, catfish, carp, and black bream.
