Description

Welcome to Hasties Swamp National Park!

Nested 1,371 km northwest of Brisbane in Far North Queensland, the park is situated several kilometres south of the town of Atherton.

Hasties Swamp National Park boasts a stunning seasonal wetland as its main feature. It was declared a national park on April 5, 1980, with the aim of preserving the unique habitat found within it. The average elevation of the terrain is 826 metres, with open eucalypt forests surrounding the wetland.

If you love birdwatching, you're in for a treat! The park is home to up to 300 species of birds, including the sarus crane, pale-vented bush-hen, and buff-banded rail. The excellent conservation efforts have created perfect breeding environments for these birds, making the swamp an ideal destination for bird enthusiasts. Visitors, including those using wheelchairs, can observe birds from a bird hide specially designed to provide the perfect viewing opportunity.
