Located on Pensioners Hill Lookout in Gunnedah, the Heritage Sculptures make for a fascinating and educational attraction.

These amazing stone sculptures depict different aspects of the town's colourful history, showcasing cultural and industrial milestones.

As you stroll along a short, windy path past the four sculptures, you will be immersed in Gunnedah's history. You can see the Coal Miner, showing the laborious work undertaken in subterranean coal mines. Gaze at the Pioneer Woman, illustrating the hardships that early settlers faced in the area - including drought and isolation. You can also see Agriculture, a sculpture demonstrating the flourishing agriculture industry, and Red Chief, a statue of the legendary Kamilaroi Leader who fought for Indigenous land rights. On the reverse of each stone, the rainbow serpent tells the Dreamtime story of each aspect. A fascinating insight into the town's local Indigenous culture and heritage.

Once you reach the top of the Lookout, you will be rewarded by a splendid view over Gunnedah, making for a perfect photo opportunity. While you're here, soak in the native flora and fauna as well.

If you're planning a visit to the Heritage Sculptures, it's best to go in the daytime, as the Lookout offers an unobstructed view of the town. Also, keep in mind that temperatures in Gunnedah can soar in the summer months, so it's always a good idea to wear comfortable clothes and bring sunscreen and plenty of water.

The Heritage Sculptures are located at Pensioners Hill Lookout which is only a few minutes' drive from the town centre of Gunnedah. With parking facilities available at the bottom of the Lookout, it's a short but steep walk up to the top. Alternatively
