Description

The Hopetoun Ravensthorpe Rail Trail is a 54 km heritage walk trail in Western Australia.

It is ideal for nature and history enthusiasts who want to explore the area's natural beauty and historic sites. The trail is divided into four sections, with the Hopetoun Trailhead Loop being the closest to the Hopetoun townsite. This section is 14 km long and takes about 3-4 hours to complete. Visitors can start the trail from the jetty or McCulloch Park and return via the old Beacon Lookout.

Located within the Fitzgerald Biosphere region, the trail offers opportunities to experience different types of flora and fauna. Wildflowers are abundant from August to November. The trail is recommended for experienced hikers due to its isolation and ruggedness. Some parts are not suitable for mountain bikes. Visitors should carry enough water and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

To reach Hopetoun, visitors can drive from Perth or fly to Esperance, which is approximately 130 km away.
