Description

Horseshoe Bay is a charming town, suburb, and bay located on Magnetic Island in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

It has a rich history and was formerly known as Bee-Ran until 1962. Horseshoe Bay Post Office was established by 1935 but sadly closed in 1982. At present, the area has grown to become a thriving tourist accommodation and recreation center on the island, with a population of 578 in the 2016 census.

Horseshoe Bay Provisional School, which opened on 1 July 1949, was the first school in the area, later becoming Horseshoe Bay State School on September 2, 1954. Housing development began in the southern part of the bay behind the current residential area from September 2006. The nearest available primary school is Nelly Bay State School, while the nearest secondary school is Townsville State High School, which is on the mainland in Railway Estate.

Horseshoe Bay boasts numerous parks, each with its unique features, including the Apjohn Street Park, Health Street Park, and Pollard Street Park. Besides, there is a well-maintained Townsville City Council-managed boat ramp located at the intersection of Horseshoe Bay Road and Pacific Drive. Ensure to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to enjoy Horseshoe Bay's endless water activities, such as fishing, swimming, and boating.
