Description

Jim Jim Falls, also known as Barrkmalam, is a stunning plunge waterfall located in Kakadu National Park in Australia.

It is registered on the Australian National Heritage List and offers breathtaking views. The name of the waterfall comes from the Kundjeyhmi language and refers to the water pandanus plant that lines the creek below. Jim Jim Falls is a single drop waterfall that descends from an elevation of 259 meters above sea level. The height of the drop ranges from 140 to 200 meters, providing a mesmerizing experience for visitors. The waterfall is located close to the eastern boundary of the national park and is accessible through a gravel road during the dry season. In the wet season, the waterfall is most spectacular, but it is inaccessible by vehicle. The escarpment in the area formed over 140 million years ago and stretches over 500 kilometers along the eastern side of the national park. Jim Jim Falls has also been referenced in popular culture, with English singer Morrissey featuring a song named after it on his album "I Am Not A Dog On A Chain." Plan your visit to Kakadu National Park today to witness the natural wonder of Jim Jim Falls.
