Description

Kaluna Park is a natural oasis located in the city centre of Wangaratta.

Spanning 5.2 hectares, it is a remnant of River Red Gum riverine bushland and is situated at the confluence of King River and Merriwa Creek. The park has undergone extensive bush restoration since 1995, making it a haven for wildlife and a popular destination for nature-lovers.

Visitors to Kaluna Park can enjoy a leisurely stroll along 1.2km of walking tracks, which are dotted with seats for resting and birdwatching. The park is a vital wildlife corridor and is home to numerous species of woodland and wetland birds. Along the walking tracks, interpretive signage provides information on the flora and fauna of the park. There is also a small picnic area where visitors can enjoy a meal surrounded by nature.

Kaluna Park is open year-round and can be visited at any time. To access Kaluna Park, visitors can enter through the levee bank near the soundshell in Merriwa Park. This entrance is just a short walk from the city centre and is well-signposted. There is no entrance fee to the park.
