Description

Discover the Vast, Protected Wilderness Area of Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park.

Located 697 km north of Adelaide within the picturesque locality of Lake Eyre, Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park was South Australia's first arid zone conservation area, established to protect the nation's largest salt lake and the mainland's lowest point. The Park offers vast desert landscapes, and visitors can explore both the North and South sections of Lake Eyre and sections of the Tirari Desert, all of which are beautifully preserved within the park.

The Aboriginal Community and Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources co-manage Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park, ensuring visitors can get a genuine experience while helping preserve its delicate ecosystem. The Park also encompasses Elliot Price Conservation Park, covering the Hunt Peninsula and Brooks Island, which is enclosed within the northern section of the lake.

The national park boasts limited vehicle access to the park, ensuring an exceptional, peaceful environment. It was later renamed Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park on 14 November 2013 and recognized as an International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Category VI protected area. Take a break from the crowded city and let yourself be mesmerized by the tranquillity and beauty of Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park to experience and learn more about this incredible destination.
