Welcome to Koondoola
The suburb is bounded by Mirrabooka Avenue to the west, Beach Road to the south, Marangaroo Drive to the north and Alexander Drive to the east. Development of this suburb commenced in 1970 and was the third stage in the establishment of post war suburbs along Wanneroo Road.
Koondoola, combined with the adjacent suburb of Girrawheen, has a diverse and multicultural demographic. With the largest population of people in the City who speak English as a second language. The local area contains a large range of valued bushlands and wildlife species and contains significant regional sporting facilities and open spaces, as well as well-maintained parks and facilities that support community activities and connection.
People are drawn to this place for its natural beauty and convenient location, and choose to stay for the family, friends and neighbours that make up the community.
The Vietnamese community has played a large role in contributing to and strengthening Australia’s multicultural society in the City of Wanneroo.
As a lasting tribute to those who served in the Vietnam War, the City constructed a memorial at Peace Park in Koondoola - a place for quiet reflection, as well as a space for commemorative community events. The centrepiece of Peace Park is a symbolic public artwork which references the Battle of Long Tan and represents the past, the coming together in the hardship of war and the future, living together in a harmonious community.

Origin of name and history
Koondoola is an Aboriginal word meaning 'emu', and was approved as the name for this suburb in 1970, when a planning scheme for the area was endorsed by the City.
In 1985, as a result of lobbying by local people to protect the Koondoola Bushland Reserve, it was vested with the City of Wanneroo to be managed in partnership with Friends of Koondoola Open Space.
In 2017 the City engaged with the community about the revitalisation and future of Koondoola Plaza. The Peace Park Vietnam War memorial was officially opened on Sunday 29 April 2018.
