Description
Lagoon Beach, located on Lord Howe Island, is a picturesque and tranquil beach that is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
It is sheltered from winds and safe for those who are not confident in the water, making it a beautiful place to relax and enjoy scenic views.
One of the best things to do at Lagoon Beach is kayaking to various snorkeling spots like Comets and Coral Gardens. Kayaks can be hired from tourist tours & equipment hire located within walking distance of Lagoon Beach. The clear water of the lagoon is perfect for snorkeling around the rocks to see corals, sea sponges, fish, and even large crays. Visitors can also jump off the outer reef and snorkel amidst the amazing colored coral & sponge beds, and spot the shy Galapagos sharks. Lagoon Beach also has its own private beach hut for sitting and watching the sunsets with other guests.
Lagoon Beach is an all-year-round attraction, but the best time to visit is on a day without much wind, for kayaking and exploring snorkeling spots, without being an exercise to get back against the wind, and with calmer waters. Weather updates can be obtained from tourist offices on the island, allowing visitors to plan accordingly.
Lord Howe Island is located in the Tasman Sea, off the coast of New South Wales, and can only be reached by a two-hour flight from either Sydney or Brisbane. Visitors are advised to book their accommodation on the island ahead of time, stock up on food supplies, and be mindful of the island's codes and regulations, including biosecurity protocols newline.
