Description
Experience the natural beauty of the Lake Jasper at sunrise with its multitude of waterbirds.
Lake Jasper is the largest fresh water lake in South Western Australia, and together with Lake Wilson and Lake Smith forms part of an important wetland system. This pristine lake is situated amongst vegetated dunes and fed by an underground water supply.
Getting There
Lake Jasper is approximately 2 hours from Augusta. Access to Lake Jasper is 4WD only. Please reduce your tyre pressure to suit the conditions when driving on sand. The track to Lake Jasper is never graded so be prepared for some difficult sections.
Water Activities
While power craft and water skiing are no longer permitted on the lake, passive water craft activity, such as canoeing, is still permitted. The lake is also home to freshwater cobbler, providing anglers with the chance to catch some dinner.
Bird Watching
Lake Jasper has been recognised as one of the five most important wetlands for waterbirds in the southwest, and bird watchers will be able to see many species here. If you are lucky, you could be rewarded with a glimpse of the endangered little bittern (ixobrychus minutus).
Camping
There are three campsites with basic facilities located at Lake Jasper. Visitors should be aware that the site is popular, especially over holiday periods, and is often full. Camping fees apply.
