Lake McIntyre

Lake McIntyre in Millicent is a picturesque sanctuary known for its native trees and abundant bird life.

With over 50 species of water birds and waders, it is a paradise for birdwatchers. The lake offers various facilities such as observation hides, an Interpretive Centre, boardwalk, viewing platforms, walking trail, free access, and picnic areas.

Visitors can enjoy a 20-minute walking trail around the lake, which is accessible to all. The trail provides opportunities to spot native and migratory birds and includes seats and two bird hides for birdwatching.

While Lake McIntyre is a great destination throughout the year, the best time to visit is during spring and autumn when the weather is cool and bird activity is at its peak.

The lake also offers picnic areas and facilities such as free gas barbecues, seats and tables, an Interpretive Centre, flush toilets, wheelchair access, ample parking spaces, and turning space for buses and caravans.

To reach Lake McIntyre, visitors can drive down the Princes Highway, which is only 12 minutes away from Millicent, making it a convenient day trip destination.
