Description

Langi Ghiran State Park is a scenic destination for nature lovers, located just 14 km east of Ararat in Victoria, Australia.

Covering 2695 hectares of land, the park offers camping, walking, and driving adventures.

The park boasts steep granite peaks and wide-open woodland sections, providing a diverse range of landscapes and wildlife. From open heathlands to montane forests, visitors can encounter fauna such as echidnas, wallabies, and yellow-tailed black cockatoos. Its proximity to other popular parks adds to its charm.

The Langi Ghiran State Park holds historical significance, deriving its name from the Djab Wurrung people's language. Explored by Thomas Mitchell in 1836, the park features Mount Langi Ghiran, named "Mount Mistake" by Mitchell. Two reservoirs constructed in the 1880s still serve as water supply for Ararat. A timber processing mill was built in 1940 but has since been dismantled.

Offering a beautiful and serene environment, Langi Ghiran State Park allows visitors to engage in outdoor pursuits while learning about its cultural and ecological history.
