Description

Lennox Gardens is a picturesque park located on the south side of Lake Burley Griffin in the suburb of Yarralumla, Canberra, Australia.

It is nestled close to the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge and Albert Hall. Prior to the creation of Lake Burley Griffin, a road called Lennox Crossing ran through the site. Today, the park is named after that same road, with the northern segment still visible on Acton peninsula. With the filling of Lake Burley Griffin in the 1960s, the part of the original Royal Canberra Golf course that remained dry became the present-day Lennox Gardens. The garden was officially named in 1963.

Lennox Gardens is home to numerous monuments and memorials. These include Kasuga stones, gifted to Canberra by Japan in April 1997, a monument dedicated to Australians in the Spanish Civil War, and a stone monument commemorating the centenary of Federation and the Jewish National fund. The park also boasts a Wisteria pergola, sponsored by Totalcare industries, which celebrates the sister city relationship with Nara.

Lennox Gardens is also home to the Canberra-Nara Peace Park, which symbolizes the friendship between Canberra and Nara, Japan. Visitors can take a stroll through this park and enjoy the cherry blossom trees, water gardens, and traditional Japanese-style stone lanterns.

Lennox Gardens is a must-see destination for those who love nature and history. It offers beautiful scenery, enjoyable recreation, and is richly infused with cultural significance. Whether you are looking to relax in a beautiful garden, take advantage of the numerous picnic areas, or learn more about Australia's history, Lennox Gardens is the place to be!
