Description

Lighthouse Beach, located approximately 7 kilometers south of Port Macquarie, is a popular surf beach that offers a nine-kilometre stretch of sand heading towards Lake Cathie.

Visitors can enjoy long walks, camel safari rides, beach fishing, and driving along the 4WD access at the southern end of the beach. The beach is also great for intermediate surfers and above, with short but powerful rides.

For those interested in history, the iconic Tacking Point Lighthouse is a must-visit. Built-in 1879, the lighthouse marks the final stop along the scenic coastal walk. Lighthouse Beach also offers dog-friendly areas south of Watonga Rocks, where visitors can let their furry friends off for some energetic dog beach play. The beach is a year-round destination, but it's best to avoid the peak summer months from December to February when the crowds are at their highest. During the School Holidays, the beach is patrolled at the northern end near the surf club and cafe.

To get to Lighthouse Beach Port Macquarie, it is a 10-minute drive from Port Macquarie's CBD. Visitors can follow the southern signpost along Pacific Drive to reach the beach, where there is plenty of parking available at the northern end.
