Description
Lighthouse Bommies Dive site is a popular dive spot located off the western side of Lady Elliot Island.
It consists of small coral outcrops that provide a diverse range of marine life for divers to explore. The site features a giant tower of coral that rises from the sea floor at 25 meters and stands 20 meters tall. Liveaboard dive boats visit the site regularly.
Divers can expect to see a variety of marine species at Lighthouse Bommies. The bommie is adorned with beautiful corals and is home to batfish, stingrays, turtles, sea snakes, moray eels, coral trout, reef sharks, trevally, barracuda, and manta rays. The fish life around the bommie is particularly impressive, with massive schools of snapper at the base and trevally swirling around the top. To reach the dive site, one must first travel to Lady Elliot Island, which is approximately 80 km northeast of Bundaberg East. Scenic flights are available from Bundaberg East or Hervey Bay to access the island. Divers can then access the bommie from the mooring line and enjoy an unforgettable diving experience.
