Tourist attractions

Little Swanport TAS 7190, Little Swanport, TAS 7190

Description

Little Swanport Beach, located on Tasmania's East Coast, is an exposed beach, sandbar, and point break that offers inconsistent surfing conditions throughout the year.

Winter is the best time to visit for surfers. The beach has an optimum wind direction from the west and the most favorable swell direction comes from the southeast. Most of the surf is generated by groundswells, and the beach breaks are best experienced during low tide. It is less crowded than other beaches in the region, providing a peaceful surfing experience. Visitors to Little Swanport Beach can also explore the ruins of the Lisdillon Salt Works, which provide insight into Tasmania's industrial heritage. For boating enthusiasts, there is a great boat ramp into the river, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding area.

To reach Little Swanport Beach, it is approximately 120 km from Hobart and 200 km from Launceston. It is accessible by car via the A3 Highway and Coles Bay Road, or by public transport such as coach services or hiring a car from Hobart or Launceston.

While winter is the most favorable time for surfing, visitors can explore the ruins or indulge in boating at Little Swanport Beach throughout the year.
