Lockyer National Park

Located in the north of Lockyer Valley Region in South East Queensland, Lockyer National Park is a spectacular natural attraction.

The park spans over 11,079 hectares and an additional 7,790 hectares have been designated for recovery. The landscape of the park is dominated by the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and includes sandstone gorges and eucalypt forests. The park is divided into four distinct sections: Alice Creek, Redbank Creek, and Fifteen Mile Creek- all of which are tributaries of Lockyer Creek which runs through the park.

The park boasts a rich diversity of flora and fauna which includes the helidon ironbark, mountain guinea flower, brush-tailed rock-wallaby and black-breasted buttonquail. The park provides a habitat for several other bird species like the red-tailed black-cockatoo, turquoise parrot, and peregrine falcon, making it a birdwatcher's paradise.

The park is accessible through several unsealed roads which connect the different sections. The main road leading into the park is located in Helidon, from where you can explore the natural beauty of the park.

Lockyer National Park is popular with those who enjoy bushwalking, mountain biking, as well as motorbike and 4WD driving. Although the park offers opportunities for exploring, visitors should also note that authorities are committed to reducing any damage to the environment caused by these activities.
