Description

Maryborough Town Hall Green is a historical meeting place maintained by the Fraser Coast Regional Council.

It is located at the site of the first Maryborough court house, police station, gaol, and gallows where two felons were publicly executed in 1877. The Town Hall Green has become a popular spot for residents and visitors, featuring various historical representations and events.

One of the notable features of the Town Hall Green is the four large etchings titled "Five O'clock Whistle" adjacent to the Commonwealth Bank. These etchings represent an important aspect of Maryborough's history, depicting the hundreds of workers from factories in lower Kent Street cycling home at 5 pm. Visitors interested in literature can also find five Mary Poppins characters etched on the brick plinths on the green closer to Kent Street. Additional characters can be found on the footpath at the foot of the ramp, where visitors can reproduce the representations by rubbing with a pencil. Maryborough Town Hall Green is open year-round from 6 am to 6 pm. To reach Maryborough Town Hall Green, visitors can easily access it by car as it is located in the city center along Kent Street. The address is 388 Kent St, Maryborough. It is also conveniently located near other main attractions
