Me, Also Me (expired event)

Me, Also Me considers how artists employ tropes of mirroring and repetition, anecdotes and alter egos, imitation and transformation to map the contours of uncannily labile selves.

Me, Also Me taken from the ‘Me: X Also me: Y’ meme. The meme is often used to humorously demonstrate the multiple realities people live in, the contradictory elements of life, and to perhaps release tension around the need to take unitary positions.

This exhibit explores the contradictory elements of life through two video installations 'Delivery Dancer’s Sphere', 2022, by Ayoung Kim and 'Invisible Touch', 2024, by Daisuke Kosugi alongside Brett Whiteley’s The American Dream which trouble the distinction between reality and fiction.

The exhibition includes additional works from the State Art Collection featuring artists like Farah Al Qasimi, Ian Burn, Tracey Moffatt, Yasumasa Morimura and Maria Taniguchi.
